Rooted Nexus OneYes! Google’s Nexus One loaded with Android 2.1 is rooted before its public launch. As most of you know Google is planning to launch its Nexus One on 5th January, 2010.

Most of you may have this question – What is Rooted? To Root is some thing like To Jailbreak. Where you will have access to system file once its rooted. So, Paul @ android.madaco.com was able to root Google’s Nexus One. All these dates Apple was trying to keep up with people from jailbreaking their iPhone and now Google will also try to keep up with people from rooting their Nexus One. But, it will be very hard for Apple and Google to stop it from Jailbreaking/rooting, regardless of who the manufacture is.

Please read the following Warning before we start the step by step tutorial on How to Root Nexus One.

Warning: We personally have not tested this. Please do it on your own risk. We will not be responsible for any damage or breakage of your phone.

Step 1: Download Superboot and Extract the ZIP file it to a Folder - Superboot is a Boot.img that when flashed, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash the system partition, no need to use ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just flash the boot image using the instructions below and you’re done!

Step 2: Download Insecure BootThis allows you to manually deploy su and superuser.apk, it makes no changes to your system

Step 3: Put your device in Bootloader mode -
  • Turn your phone Off
  • Remove the battery
  • Plug in the USB Cable
  • When battery icon appears onscreen
  • Replace the battery
  • Tap on the power button While holding the Camera Key.

Step 4:

  • For Windows Users: Open the folder where you extracted SuperBoot.zip and double click on “install-superboot-windows.bat
  • For Mac Users: Open a Terminal window to the directory containing the files, type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh‘ followed by ‘./install-superboot-mac.sh
  • For Linux Users: Open a Terminal windows to the directory containing the files, type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh‘ followed by ‘./install-superboot-linux.sh
Step 5: Now, let it do it’s thing. Once it done. Reboot your device and enjoy your rooted Nexus One.
