By Mac Hack PC 20 December 2009 View Comments

Motorola Droid Running Android 2.1About this time last week its was all about Google Phone / Nexus One and its OS (Android 2.1).

Recently we have posted an article regarding – Running Android 2.1 on a Droid. Yesterday, One of our source at AllDroid informed that, they have a Stable Version of Android 2.1 on Motorola Droid and its “super fast”. This is very exciting news for all Motrola Droid users/owners who are willing to run this hacked version of Android 2.1.

Before I get into this article I would like to congratulate all Motorola Droid Users/Owners. Because Motorola Droid won the Gadget of the Year 2009

Member at AllDroid mention the following.

  • They have tried Messaging, Phone Call, Web Browsing, Market, E-mail and Program compatibility – They are fine
  • 99% of Non Google program are fully functional.
  • All Google programs were working when they tested them.
  • Programs must be installed through an App Manager to work.
  • If you just copy programs into /data/app, some programs may not work.

Sounds GREAT! Tell me How can I get Android 2.1 run on my Motorola Droid? Before we start downloading the image lets look at the Pre-Requisites

Step 1: You must have NANDROID installed. We recommend installing version 0.11.0 or better of SirPsycoS patched recovery image (AllDroid was using ver 0.11.0).

Step 2: Make a backup of your system using NANDROID.

  • Access your SDCARD from your PC.
  • Navigate into your NAndroid directory
  • Move all the backups onto a folder on your pc. This is important because, you may have an issue with NANDROID not wanting to install this image after unzipp.
  • When a new recovery image comes out that allows you to select which backup you want to restore in NANDROID, you can skip moving the files off the SDCARD. All permissions are set were retained when we tested the restore. We did a format of data, system, and cache before restoring my image from the downloaded zip. This has been fully tested!

Step 3: We recommend buying an Micro SDCARD reader for your PC. - If there is a problem with the image for any reason, this would help you get your last backup copied back onto the SDCARD for a NANDROID restore.

I am all GOOD with the above mentioned Pre-Requisites. Now, where can I Download the Hacked/Modified Version of Android 2.1?  Download Link Here
