How to overclock your Nexus One to 1.113 GHz (Tested: runs faster and it is stable)

What is overclocking your Nexus One? Overclocking is nothing but, resetting your Nexus One’s component so that it runs faster than the manufacture specified speed, The purpose of overclocking is to boost your Nexus One’s performance. Overclocking doesn’t only applies to Nexus One it applies to most of the computer devices.

Your Nexus One by default comes with 1GHz, with the help of this process your could increase it up-to 1.113 GHz. Making your Nexus One run much more faster. Credit goes to folks at XDA. To get this on your Nexus One, your Nexus One should be Unlock Bootloader and rooted. If you haven’t rooted your phone, please follow this link to root your Nexus One and to Unlock your Bootloader follow this link

Overclocking is not without risk because when taken to extremes the process can make the system unstable. Most device warranties are voided if an issue is caused by overclocking.

Here is the Step by Step Process.

Step 1: First Unlock your bootloader and Root your Nexus One (If you haven’t)

Step 2: Install the latest Cyanogen ROM (5.0.2 as of 2/15/2010)

Step 3: Download and Install SetCPU from either here for FREE or Buy it from Android Market to support the developers

Step 4: Download Nexus One 1.113GHz – (Modded Kernel)

Step 4: Make sure to enable USB debugging on phone

Step 5: Reboot into fastboot and type “fastboot flash zimage zImagekmons” – If you get any error try adding .dat extension at the end (For Example: “fastboot flash zimage zImagekmons.dat” )

Step 6: Once your phone boots, Open SetCPU and tell it to autodetect your CPU (Don’t choose Nexus One from the list)

Step 7: Set the MAX clock to the highest and tell it to set on boot.
