Apple recently released iOS 4 (previously known as iPhone OS 4) for iPhone 3GS, iPodTouch 3G, iPhone 3G & iPodTouch 2G. This release brings us 100 new features but, unfortunately Apple decided to disable Multitasking in iPhone 3G & iPodTouch 2G. But with the help of the Jailbreak Community we can enable Multitasking & Home Screen Wallpaper in both the devices. With the power of Jailbreak, you can use your iPhone on any carrier of your choice (GSM only) and as a bonus you do get access to a third party AppStore (Cydia Store), where you will find plenty of app along with app which are reject or not approved by Apple.
- iPhone 2G Users: Unfortunately, iOS 4 doesn’t support your device
- iPhone 3G Users: You don’t have to worry about bootrom – You can user any of the tutorial – Redsn0w-Mac / RedSn0w-Win / PwnageTool-Mac / Sn0wbreeze-Win
- iPhone 3GS Users: You are the only one is should look for BootRom/iBoot. Currently, you can Jailbreak your device if you have a OLD BootRom -
- OLD BootROM – 359.3
- NEW BootROM – 359.3.2
Note: For iPhones MC doesn’t mean that you have a NEW BootROM. MC logic applies only for iPodTouch. So, if you have iPhone, please follow the below to see if you have a new or old bootrom.
Why does Jailbreak does not work on New BootRom? Well, to Jailbreak the iPhone with new bootrom one should find an exploit/vulnerability. Once that is found, it will just be a matter of time. In a recent conference, GeoHot pointed out to a new exploit which he will be using it very soon. So, lets hope that we will get a new Jailbreak tool from him sooner or later.
