How to Unlock iPhone 4 running iOS 4 / iOS 4.0.1 using Ultrasn0w 1.0-1


We all know, Apple is selling unlocked iPhone 4′s in UK, Canada, France, Germany and few other countries. Unfortunately, it is only selling locked iPhone 4′s in its home country (US), Sweden, and few others countries. For those who can can’t buy unlocked iPhone 4′s but, want to use it with other carriers. They can now, get it unlocked as Jailbreaking and Unlocking has become LEGAL in United States.

The iPhone Dev Team (@planetbeing & @MuscleNerd) both were successfully able  to unlock iPhone 4. They have been doing some private beta testing for the past 48 hours and it went well. Ultrasn0w 1.0 is compatible with iPhone 4 baseband 0.1.59.00 and iPhone 3G/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04.

To Unlock your iPhone 4 you must Jailbreak your iPhone First. If you haven’t, please follow the below link.

Once you have the Jailbroken iPhone, then follow the below steps..

One more important thing, make sure your disable 3G before your start the unlock process do the this- Go to >> Settings >> General >> Network >> 3G – Disable

Step 1: Launch Cydia

Step 2: Tap on Manage & Tap on Sources

Step 3: Tap on Edit and the Tap on Add

Step 4: Now, in the field add the following repo

http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com

Note: in ultrasn0w its a Zero not a o

Step 5: Now, tap on AddSource and then Tap on Done

Step 6: Now, Tap on the added source “repo666.ultrasn0w.com”

Step 7: Now, look for ultrasn0w 1.0-1 and select it.

Step 8: Now, Tap on Install and then confirm to complete the installation.

There you have it! Now, you must be able to insert any SIM as your iPhone 4 has been unlocked.

Update #1 (08/03/2010) – Most T-Mobile users in the USA using the iphone 4 after unlocking you will need to disable 3G mode in Settings->General->Network. Because, T-Mobile USA uses different 3G freq than Apple “says” it supports
