If I ask you which category apps do you buy the most from AppStore? Most of your answers will be “Games Category”. We all know, how successful is Apple AppStore. In 2009 Flurry a mobile app analytic company estimates that $500 million worth games were sold through the App Store in the US. That’s a huge increase from $115 million in 2008. According to Flurry, iPhone/iPod Touch captures 5 percent of total video games sale market of US.

Looking at the Pie-Chart from Flurry, we can easily say that, iPhone OS (includes iPhone and iPodTouch) has a tremendous growth compare to last year. In 2008 iPhone OS captured 5% of US Portable Game Software by Revenue with PSP captured 20% and Nitendo DS captured 75%. In 2009, Apple iPhone OS captured 19% of US Portable Game Software by revenue – stealing 5% from Nintendo DS and 9% from PSP from last year (making PSP stand at 11% and Nintendo DS at 70% ).

2010 will be very interesting, because iPad is few weeks away from the release and Apple is allowing developers to submit apps for iPad., Microsoft releasing Windows Phone 7 Series phone by the end of this year which will have XBox integrated in it., and Sony’s PlayStation Phone (Rumored) is expect to be out this year.
