This posting is only for iPhone 3GS Users.

Recently Apple released the latest iPhone Software update OS 3.1.2, the latest firmware update contains a baseband firmware update 5.11.04 which is not compatible with Ultrasn0w. Which means if you upgrade your iPhone 3GS 3.0 or 3.1 to 3.1.2 your baseband will also gets upgraded from Modem FW 04.26.08 to 5.11.04. When this happens, you can’t unlock baseband 5.11.04 with any utility in the present market. Thanks to Dev team, PwnageTool (Only for Mac) program let’s you update your main firmware without touching your baseband firmware.

We have put a simple step by step guide which will show you how to upgrade, jailbreak and unlock your iPhone 3GS from Firmware 3.0 or 3.1 to Firmware 3.1.2 without upgrading your baseband.

Dont’s:

• Don’t update your iPhone OS from 3.0 or 3.1 to 3.1.2 using iTunes directly. (First we need to download a Costume firmware IPSW file for your iPhone 3GS. And then restore this file to your iphone using iTunes)

Requirements :

• iPhone 3GS
• Windows XP / Vista / Windows 7
• iTunes 9.0.1
  
• iPhone 3GS Custom Firmware OS 3.1.2 – iPhone 3GS Custom Firmware 3.1.2

There are two part to get your iPhone up and running.

• Part One – First we need to Restore your iPhone 3GS with Custom Firmware OS 3.1.2
• Part Two – Second we need to Unlock iPhone 3GS using UltraSn0w

Part One: (JailBreak)

Step 1: Download all required files and save them on your Desktop (In a single folder).

Step 2: Close all running application on your Windows PC.

Step 3: Connect your iPhone 3GS to PC

Step 4: Get your iPhone into DFU Mode. – Instruction on DFU

Step 5: By now you should see Windows reconize your divice (You will see it at the bottom right corner.)

Step 6: Start you iTunes by double clicking iTunes icon.

Step 7: Hold the “Shift” Key and click on the restore button.

Step 8: Now, navigate to the folder where you save the iPhone 3G S Custom Firmware 3.1.2 and click “Open”

Step 9: The restore process should start (This process take about 5 to 10 minutes).
