Microsoft mistakenly unveils social search project, codenamed Tulalip.

Microsoft today mistakenly unveiled a test version of a social search project, codenamed Tulalip. The software giant, accidentally published Project Tulalip at socl.com, which is owned and managed by Microsoft. The service was up for short time and it has pulled offline.

The service was first noted by Fusible, where they have seen a teaser promising a new “social search” service by Microsoft. Looking at the teaser, it appears that the service allows Facebook & Twitter users to sign-in. The message on teaser reads “With Tulalip you can Find what you need and Share what you know easier than ever”. Although, the site is not fully operational, we can get an idea of where Microsoft is going with the service.

Now, the socl.com page has been update by Microsoft with the following message

Thanks for stopping by.
Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web.
We didn’t mean to, honest.

Again, as mentioned earlier, this is one of the many Microsoft Research projects that typically do not make it to market. But, are sure that some of the feature will be integrated into Bing at some point.
