I know this was coming. couple weeks ago we have mentioned that CDMA iPhone coming to Verizon. But, Apple & Verizon are in conflict on pricing. – Seems like Apple & Verizon agreed with each other on pricing.
Now, with the following news I feel that, Steve Jobs will definitely announce a CDMA version of iPhone for Verizon & iPhone OS 4.0 next week Apples Media Event. This CDMA version of iPhone can be expected to launch in June, 2010 because Apple’s exclusive contract with AT&T expires in the second half of 2010 — freeing Apple to cut a deal with Verizon.
According to Canaccord Adams’ Peter Misek in a note to clients Wednesday, “that the ‘One more thing…‘ part of next week’s presentation may include two iPhone-related announcements: namely, the release of iPhone OS 4.0 and the unveiling of iPhone 4G coming to Verizon in June.”
“Together with our semi-conductor partners,” he writes, “we have ascertained that there is a reasonable chance the Asian supply chain is prepping for mass production of a new iPhone in March, for availability in late Q2, likely June. The phone will be carried on Verizon and hence will operate on the CDMA network; however, it will also support European GSM and HSPA standards.”
Recently Verizon and AT&T dropped there prices on Voice/Data plans. Now, that iPhone will be available for both network it will be very interesting to see the competition.
Mr. Misek also thinks that 4the Gen iPhone will support LTE by June 2011, Tiered data plans are imminent including an unlimited data plan from Verizon.
Forecast figures by Mr. Misek says that 37 million iPhones will be sold in 2010.
