As you know US Smart-phone market is huge. The top leaders like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Palm are trying to grab the top position but, RIM is holding it tight. In a recent survey by ComScore, Apple’s iPhone OS gained 1.2% points of US smart-phone market share and Google’s Android OS gained 2.7% points of US smart-phone market share.
While Blackberry maker Research In Motion Inc. lost a point with in the last three month of 2009 and Microsoft lost a point too. Surprising enough, Palm has lost 2.2 points.
RIM being on top its holding 41.6 % smart-phone market share and followed by Apple who is holding 25.3%. Three months ago Apple iPhone overtook Microsoft and now Microsoft is holding 18% smart-phone market share followed by Palm with 6.1%. Previously Google was holding 2.5% smart-phone market share now with a gain of 2.7 points in 3 months it has gained a total market share of 5.2% overtaking Symbian.
Predictions:
Rumors says Apple will be reveling its iPhone OS 4.0 in Apple WWDC event. This version of iPhone OS will be much more secure than ever. According to a repot, Apple will be integrating encryption and business applications into its fourth version of iPhone OS. This will includes improved email support, which could seriously impact the popularity of BlackBerry smartphone. If all this is legit – Apple will be successful in take a big piece of a smart-phone market pie.
With in the next three months Google will be overtaking Palm as Google is driving fast with its Android OS. Top smart-phone manufactures like Motorola, HTC, Samsung etc.. are interested in loading Android OS in there devices. With the recent launch of Android 2.1 on its own Nexus One phone, the popularity has been increased on Android OS. In a recent report from Motorola, we learned that Motorola Droid is also getting Android 2.1 in a week.
In an other angle, we can say that Google Android has eaten a big piece of this pie – 50% more than what Google had three months ago. Rim, Apple & Microsoft should keep an keen eye on Google Android. One other interesting point to talk about is Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 7. WinMob 7 is expected to be launched with in a week. Rumor sayd that, Microsoft will be launching ZunePhone soon. If this is all legit, it will be very interested race to watch.
