Seriously, Will it be enough if you have a iPhone with 5 megapixel camera to take quality pictures? The answer will be YES & NO. Currently, iPhone has 3.2 megapixel camera with which you can take good pictures but not quality pictures in day light conditions. When it comes to a dim light or no light, iPhone doesn’t have a feature to produce quality pictures.
We have been hearing that, Next Gen iPhone will have a 5 megapixel camera. Its about the right time because all other phones like Nexus One, Motorola Droid, Palm’s Pre, HD2 has 5 megapixel camera. GREAT! With this we are sure that we can take quality pictures in day light conditions. But, what about in a dim light or no light situations? The answer will be NO. Because iPhone is missing a very important component called LED’s Camera Flash.

Apple already looked into this matter. Apple started shopping around, to acquire “tens of millions” of the flash components with Philip’s Lumileds Lighting thought to be the favored potential supplier at this point.
When we talk about LED Camera Flash, the Amsterdam-based firm is well-regarded for its LUXEON LED camera flash technology, which was the first to combine the brightness of regular lighting with the long life and small footprint of LEDs. The technology is commonly coupled with 5+ megapixel cameras and has seen shipments of over 200 million units worldwide. A move by Apple towards the LUXEON components would also appear to jibe with rumors that the iPhone maker has placed orders with OmniVision, its current supplier of CMOS image sensors, for as many as 45 million 5-megapixel parts for the next-generation of the handset due by late spring . The company is also likely to leverage the iPhone’s ambient light sensor, in addition to providing a software switch, to ensure that the LED flash won’t interfere in photos where it isn’t needed.
It will be very interesting to see what Apple will come up at the end. Apple is planning to reveal its Next Gen iPhone in its WWDC event which is schedule in the month of June. Apart from this, We may expect to hear some news on mobility in its up coming event this month.
