Currently the default search engine for Apple’s iPhone is Google. But, this may not be the case later on.
If we look at the past few months, Competition between Apple & Google is Heating Up day by day. Apple & Google, both planned to acquired AdMob but, Google got the deal and Apple end up acquiring Quattro Wireless. Google made a bid to acquire Lala Music but Apple acquired it. And recently, Google launched its Nexus One to compete with Apple iPhone. That’s a healthy competition I guess.
Looking at this, Jonathan at Ovum, speculates that Apple may get rid of Google as its default search engine and may get Microsoft’s Bing on board to its devices (iPhone / iSlate).
“Business Week’s cover story includes a forecast by Jonathan Yarmis of consulting firm Ovum, who speculates that Cupertino-based Apple might make a switch to cut Google off from mobile data it could use in its Android technology.”
If this speculations is TRUE, you may have a Bing in 4th Gen iPhone which is expected to launch on WWDC Event.
With that said, Apple is starting to work more closely with Microsoft, such as approving Bing App for iPhone, adding Exchange support for the Mac OS and iPhone.
