Detailed features of iPhone OS 4.0 Firmware

By Mac Hack PC 19 January 2010 View Comments

Apple is about to reveal its iPhone OS 4.0 features in its upcoming event which is scheduled for the 27th January, 2010. But, some how guys at BGR got hold of some trusted connection and got some very exiting information for us. This iPhone OS 4.0 may not support/compatible with the first generation iPhones, but, 3G & 3GS users/owners should be able to get your hands on it.

I guess, this release of iPhone OS 4.0 firmware will be a beta version for only developers. Apple will release a final version later on – may be in June.

iPhone OS 4.0

If you want to look at some features of iPhone OS 4.0 firmware. Here they are..

  • There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
  • “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
  • Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
  • The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
  • The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

*****BGR also confirmed that, Apple Tablet will be called as iTablet not iSlate
