When HTC Touch Pro2 was launched for T-Mobile, it was shipped with Windows Mobile 6.1 as its OS. Now, T-Mobile is offering a free Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade to all its HTC Touch Pro2 user.

HTCTouchPro2

This Pro2 has been very successful with 3.6 inch, WVGA touchscreen (800 X 480 Pixel), landscape oriented QWERTY keyboard, Qualcomm 528 MHz processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.2 Megapixel (auto focus), GPS receiver, microSD clot and 1500 mAh battery.

With this upgrade Touch Pro2 gets the following

  • new HTC Sense UI with automatic location detection for weather, but not the animated backgrounds from HTC’s WinMob 6.5 upgrade.
  • It also gets Touch Pro2′s Voice Command over Bluetooth support has been improved. It now will route Voice Command notifications through Bluetooth if you have that option turned on where as previously, the respective setting did nothing due to the non-standard Bluetooth software included.
  • This improved interface made it more fingertip friendly, with many on-screen elements enlarged so users can select them without a stylus.
  • The Today Screen has been modified to include items like music player and photo viewer.
  • It also includes a newer version of Internet Explore and includes access to Microsoft’s recently-launched on-device software store.

This upgrade is definitely a major upgrade from Microsoft for its high-end phones like HTC Touch Pro2. You will need to provide your IMEI number to get this upgrade.

How to find your IMEI Number from your Phone:

1. From the Home Screen, press “Start”.
2. Select “Settings”.
3. Continue selecting the “More” option until you see “Device Information”.
4. Select “Identity”.
5. Scroll through the list to find the 15-digit IMEI number.

You can download this upgrade from T-Mobile’s website.

On the other note: The HTC Touch Pro2 is available at T-Mobile retail stores, select authorized dealers, and at T-Mobile.com. It launched at $350 with a two-year contract, but this week the price dropped to to $270 with contract.
