Obviously there are two now. This became true with the Droid. The app advantage just evaporated another precentage point overnight and development is blowing up for Android - in a matter of months Android app development will be on a par with iPhone. Only hopeless iPhone lovers are still in denial about this. So now there really is no choice because the Apple closed system and crappy network give the edge to Android and the many phones which will only get better and better. The new' unlocked' model has the potential to change everything too but we will have to wait and see how that shakes out. Jobs is going to have to pull something truely great out of his pocket to keep his advantage here or it's game over for the iPhone as a huge money maker for Apple and ATT - even if they can maintain a lot of smartphone share it is hard to see how their profit margin won't be going down, down, down as they try to hold on to what they got. If they can raise their game exponentially with something revoloutionary then maybe they stay number 1 but I don't see them reacting quickly enough.
