Steve Jobs Says ‘We Dont Track Anyone’ [iPhone Location Tracking Issue]

Some of you may have worried, (worried ? we got it covered) some of you may have said ‘who cares’ and some of you would like to know the reason why Apple is recording location details of your iPhone & iPad 3G. Just a little while ago we have informed that, South Korea, France, Germany, Italy Are To Investigate Apple Over iPhone Location Tracking?

Now, MacRumors claims that one of their reader emailed Apple CEO Steve Jobs asking for clarification on why Apple is recording location information.

MacRumors Reader’s Email -

Steve,
Could you please explain the necessity of the passive location-tracking tool embedded in my iPhone? It’s kind of unnerving knowing that my exact location is being recorded at all times. Maybe you could shed some light on this for me before I switch to a Droid. They don’t track me.

Steve’s reply -

Oh yes they do. We don’t track anyone. The info circulating around is false.

Sent from my iPhone

Steve Jobs in his email reply clearly says that Android device do track the user but, Apple don’t track anyone.

Well, there is no way that we can check the authenticity of this email but, we are sure that soon more later we will official hear it from Apple in this regards. So, stay tuned.

Desipite Steve’s rather impulsive, defensive jab at Android, he is right. Android devices DO keep a track of where and when you’ve been, but it’s more of a recent memory chache than how Apple seems to make an all inclusive log of your lats, longs, and timestamps. Also, Android devices don’t need to sync to the comp like iDevices do, so accessing this cache isn’t quite as easily accessible to the everyday user either. Apple’s insistent and intentional nature of tracking all iOS4′s since June of last year, and their general lack of safeguarding this sensitive information is what’s really alarming.
